Qantas Airlines accepts skis to be checked-in as regular checked luggage. It counts toward your free checked baggage allowance, so if bringing a suitcase in addition you may still need to purchase an additional baggage allowance via the Qantas website.

Your skis must be protected in a ski bag. If the snow skiing equipment and your checked baggage exceed your checked baggage allowance, airport excess baggage rates apply. [AMZ asins='B083176696,B074F945NM,B08512DLZK,B07X3MMRLX']

No more than one pair of skis, one pair of stocks/poles and one pair of ski boots is permitted per passenger.

Sporting equipment can be included as part of your checked baggage allowance, subject to the sporting equipment requirements. Charges will apply for any baggage carried in addition to the free allowance. You may purchase an Additional Baggage Allowance in advance to save on airport excess baggage rates. The carriage of baggage over and above the free baggage allowance is subject to space being available.

Note: The maximum weight of any piece of checked baggage is 32kg (70lb). All items must be properly and securely packed.
