Musical Instruments as Carry-On with Avianca
All musical instruments must be properly packaged. Only musical instruments that can be safely accommodated in the aircraft bins will be accepted, eg.: guitar, trumpet, violin, among others. They must comply with the Carry-on Baggage Policies.

Musical Instruments in an additional seat with Avianca
If you wish, you may purchase an assigned seat for your larger instruments. You may purchase the seat through the Avianca Sales Office, Call Center, or a Travel Agency. The instrument must travel in the same cabin as you are travelling. You are entitled to the regular baggage allowance for the additional seat you have purchased, effectively doubling your free baggage allowance. In order to transport your musical instrument in an additional seat, you must meet two conditions:
- Strap in the item, which must be inside its original packaging, using the seat belt.
- Your musical instrument must not exceed the following dimensions:
- Maximum weight: 75 kilograms / 165,3 lbs.
- Maximum height: 203,2 centimeters / 80 inches.
Musical Instruments as Checked Baggage on Avianca
Musical instruments can also be checked as a a regular piece of checked baggage, subject to space. All instruments will be subject to regular oversize, overweight, and excess baggage fees that may apply.
