KLM will accept your kitesurf equipment for transportation as checked baggage in most cases. Be sure to note that a special fee applies and it may get expensive if flying to/from Canada, the US, or Mexico

You need to reserve for transportation of your kiteboarding equipment a minimum of 48 hours before your flight by contacting KLM customer service.

Your kitesurf equipment (including bag) may have maximum dimensions of 300 cm / 118 in and may weigh max. 23 kg (50.5 lbs) in Economy Class, and max. 32 kg (70.5 lbs) in Business Class.

On flights to/from Canada, the US, or Mexico, you will be charged a special items fee for transporting kitesurf equipment, which can get very expensive, so be sure to confirm with KLM the exact price to expect to pay before buying your ticket.

It may be worth considering a "Kitesurfing Golf Bag" to pass off your kitesurf equipment as a golf bag, rather than kitesurf equipment and being charged the expensive Special Items Fee.
